Edmond couldn’t take his eyes off of his wedding ring.

His icy blue hues stared at the band around his finger. At how the ruby stone twinkled under the breakfast house’s lighting. It fit snugly around his finger, decorating his appendage in as a public display of devotion.
Edmond’s gaze bounced up at the wooden dining table, where his eyes landed between his two lovers. His two husbands, Eiden and Olivine.

The other two were wearing matching rings of similar décor. Eiden’s ring had the same, silver band as his own, with an emerald stone catching the Vice-Captain’s gaze upon the small piece of jewelry. It complimented Olivine perfectly, matching the priest’s eyes perfectly.

Speaking of said priest, Edmond looked over at Olivine’s own ring. As his hand was wrapped around a drinking glass, the knight could see the ever familiar sapphire donned against Olivine’s ring finger. Among the silver band, the blue gemstone shone perfectly against it. It twinkled like the brightest star in the sky, while Eiden’s glittered like a forbidden present that beckoned Edmond to search for it.

A fluttering pattern of heartbeats rippled along Edmond’s chest, his eyes dancing around the space between him to look at the men he was sitting between. He could see Eiden’s beaming smile as he spoke to the waitress standing at their table. Edmond hadn’t heard a thing that the young woman was saying. Aside from placing his order for a beverage –  a lemonade, which he’d almost finished –, Edmond had forgot to pay any mind to her. It was unlike him. If he were to notice it sooner, he’d chew himself over it immediately.

But, seeing Eiden’s smile made the knight melt into a tender one of his own. How he adored seeing his beloved smile. To see the life that he had in him pour out without question, and infect others around him. Eiden was a light in Edmond’s world. A prince that he’d serve valiantly until the day he’d die. He’d almost bend over backwards just to serve his any need. And, most certainly, he’d love him indefinitely, without restrictions nor consequences.

Eiden’s smile matched the one he had during their wedding day. His grin stretched wide as tears flooded his stunning brown eyes. Edmond remembered how his hands trembled as he took Eiden’s hand in his. How his own, pristine blue eyes drowned in his own tears as the Grand Sorcerer placed that very ring on his finger.

The Vice-Captain’s heart melted at the thought with content. If it were possible, Edmond wanted to relive that very memory again and again.

Edmond then looked over at Olivine, who was neatly rearranging his silverware upon his spot on the dining table. There was a blissful smile on his lips. He looked as relaxed as could be in the comfortable setting. The light browns and earthy tone of the breakfast house suited the priest perfectly as a backdrop. If it were a dream, Edmond was sure that this would be a scene that he’d recall without issue. Olivine looked absolutely ethereal, and his kindness added to it.

While the vice-captain wasn’t much of a religious man, he was certain that in some way, Olivine was an angel blessed to love him and Eiden. That he existed as a means to love the two, aside from adhering to his own duties as both a priest and a clan member. To Edmond, the priest was a saint that he’d pray to until his dying breath. Someone that he’d worship and drown with love, as a worshipper should.

He watched as Olivine’s own gaze fell onto Eiden once the priest finished ordering. How he looked at Eiden as if he were a sight to behold. Like a rare sight that was meant for his own eyes. His other hand reached over the table to reach for Eiden’s hand, and blushed lightly when the other happily took his hand, and kissed the back of it.

Edmond remembered how Olivine’s cheeks flushed on their wedding day. How he abashedly took Eiden’s hand, and slid the emerald ring onto the brunette’s finger, as his gaze grew into something dreamier. That wasn’t mentioning how the priest’s smile grew larger among fresh rows of tears rolling down his cheeks. How his breath hitched as Edmond adorned his own hand with that sapphire-stoned ring with a soft cry. How their eyes met in a silent exchange.

That in that moment, the three of them could be weak. That they could be human and emotional before the sea of their audience. With Olivine and Eiden, Edmond could be human. He could feel human – feel full and satisfied, without the possibility of ridicule.

His loving thoughts were interrupted with the call of his name.

“Edmond?” Eiden hummed, his ring-adorned hand reaching out to rest upon the Vice-Captain’s right arm. “Are you going to order something?”

Lightly, Edmond jolted in his seat. His icy eyes widened as he snapped out of his  dreamy, reminiscent admiration of his two lovers. Clearing his throat, his cheeks coloured themselves a light red color. “My… My apologies, madam.” He apologized, his gaze looking over at the young waitress. “I’ll have a stack of fluffy blueberry pancakes. With… over-easy eggs, please.” He placed his order, and watched as the waitress scribbled down his order upon her pen and pad.

“Okay! I’ll be back with your meals shortly.” Her chipper voice mused aloud, and shot the trio a quick smile before walking off from their designated area.
As she walked off, Edmond cocked a brow at the brown-haired lover beside him. “You didn’t tell me she was waiting?” He asked, his tone carrying little to no bite to it. Instead, it sounded more genuine if anything.

Olivine tittered softly, causing Edmond to look over at his green-haired husband. “To be fair, you looked caught up in your thoughts.” He vouched for Eiden, and rested his chin upon the palm of his hand. “You were looking at the both of us so fondly. What were you thinking about, dearest?”

Before the knight could respond, Eiden’s smile had shifted into a light smirk. He shifted over to sit beside the blue-haired man, and chuckled lightly as the other’s cheeks flushed further. “Hmm? Olivine has a point, y’know~.” He drawled, his eyes looking the flustered man up and down briefly before landing on his face once more. “Our dear husband wasn’t thinking about anything lewd, was he?” Eiden teased further.

“Such thoughts… so early?” Olivine’s voice softened as he spoke, a teasing twinkle in those green eyes of his. “Perhaps yesterday’s wedding has him worked up…~.”

Words lodged themselves in Edmond’s throat, causing him to stammer over his words. Between the assumption of his own thoughts, and the usage of terms such as husband and dearest, it made butterflies fly around wildly within his stomach. He swore that his heart was beginning to hammer over the light teasing directed his way.

“S–Such scandalous accusations coming from the both of you.” Edmond tried to defend himself, his eyes glancing down to the table below him. Yet, a soft, small smile dressed on his face. While the teasing remarks made him flustered to no end, part of him was thankful for it. Even with their recent relationship status, and the ceremony that bound the three of them together in law, Edmond was quite pleased that such banter hadn’t changed in the slightest. In the end, the three of them were still the same. And they loved one another immensely.

“I’m not thinking of such lewd predicaments. It’s fa–far too improper at this hour.” He continued as a curtain of bangs swept over his face. The knight’s shoulders stiffened for a moment before easing, his gaze dropping briefly to the table. “I was merely… reflecting.” He admitted, the firmness of his tone softening  into something far less defensive. His eyes glanced down at his wedding ring for a moment, watching as the ruby twinkled up at him, before looking back at the table.

He didn’t need to look up to know that Eiden tilted his head. Or, to see that Olivine was scooting over to be closer to their shared husband. “Reflecting?” Eiden echoed, “On what?”

For a moment, the Vice-Captain hesitated. He wanted to deflect the conversation into something else. About breakfast, or the sightseeing that the three of them were about to go on come the afternoon. Dante had booked the three lovers a boat cruise for the evening to explore the surrounding sea – something Edmond was forever grateful for.
Yet, words wanted to bubble out from his lips. They wanted to flood his lovers – his husbands – with the unadulterated love that he had for them.

“About our wedding. And… this morning.” Edmond responded, his cheeks heating up warmer as he spoke. Being as rare as it was, the Vice-Captain wasn’t so used to declaring his love to his partners, nor how he felt about it. Especially so soon after having shared tearful vows and shared slow dances only yesterday.

Olivine hummed in response, his head bouncing in a light nod as he listened to his knightly spouse. “The venue was lovely, wasn’t it?” He spoke, his tone taking on a dreamy, gentle tone. “I never thought that I’d see such a beautiful setting. I’ve only read them in the stories I wrote for the children.” The priest admitted, and placed his ring-baring hand on top of Edmond’s. Gently, he intertwined his fingers with his.

Edmond’s smile grew slightly as he nodded in agreement. The venue was truly gorgeous, he had to agree. It had taken place within the temple. Soft ivory drapery cascaded  from the ceiling in sweeping arcs.  Interwoven among those drapes were countless strands of delicate string lights, each tiny bulb glowing like a suspended star. There also had been several ornate chandeliers. Each one dripped with crystals that caught and fractured the light into a thousand glittering fragments. It illuminated the venue in a deep amber tone, harmonizing with the rest of the lighting.
Lining among the aisle,  arrangements of white and cream-colored flowers spilled gently outward in soft, rounded shapes. Rows of chairs, which were arranged in perfect precision, were gold-toned, and complimented the setting. Finally, the raised stage at the end of the aisle was framed by an arch of flowers – with roses being the primary floral accompaniment.

While he had lived lavishly, and attended many weddings of family members, not once did Edmond attend a wedding as beautiful as his own. For once, he truly felt like a prince. Or, a head captain of the knights, marrying into two royal families with the most stunning heirs.
“It was positively stunning.” Edmond agreed with a nod of his head. Slowly, his hues trickled over to Olivine. His flushed color slowly died down as he gazed at Olivine. “You were much more extraordinary, however, my love.” He added, his fingers gently meshing into the feeling of Olivine's hand. “You looked as breathtaking as ever in your wedding attire. Like a flower blooming beneath a sunset.”

It was Olivine’s turn to blush as he was swamped with affection. The comments that Edmond had made while reminiscing about their wedding seemed to have made any attempt to tease him melt away instantly. Sheepishly, he giggled once more, his emerald hues glancing over at his beverage. “Y-You’re too kind, Edmond.” The priest stammered softly, a light pink finally settling on his cheeks.

“He’s not wrong, you know.” Eiden agreed, causing Edmond to look over at the young Grand Sorcerer. With a hum, the brunet’s gaze slowly looked over Olivine’s form. This time, he looked as if he was savouring the priest’s beauty, rather than teasing the other with innuendo. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you smile so much. You were glowing, Olivine!” He added, his own smile growing as he recalled the priest’s demeanour before him.
Then, Eiden looked over at Edmond. “And you, Edmond. You were just as handsome.” He complemented the knight. “It was nice to see you be so… open about your feelings. For both of us.”

“Was that not expected?” Edmond questioned, his smile softening further as he raised a brow once more. “From what I understand, wedding vows are meant to declare your… undying love to your significant others.” He sat back against his seat, the soft plush of the chair feeling close to a comfortable hug against his back.
“And I meant every word I said.” With a faint skip of his heart, Edmond continued on. ‘I vowed to remind you how loved you both are. And that I am forever grateful to be yours.”

The Vice-Captain watched as Eiden’s expression fell into a much more fonder, tender state. How his eyes softened, and fell halflidded as he listened to Edmond continue on. Just the sight of how Eiden was listening so intently – so lovingly – made his heart skip a beat or two once more.
“Oh, Edmond…” The brunet sighed, and leaned his head closer to Edmond’s. Gently, he pressed a kiss on the knight’s cheek. “Always so meaningful with your words. That’s what I love about you.” He softly hummed a compliment in return. “I love everything about you, really. Even if it is cliché, every part of you is worth so much of my love.”

Eiden then looked over at Olivine and grabbed his hand once more. With a soft squeak from the priest, the Grand Sorcerer lifted his hand to his lips, and pressed a kiss to the warm flesh. “I can say the same about our beloved Father Olivine. Every part of him is worth loving so much~.” He added, as a soft hint of playfulness mixed into Eiden’s sincerity.

Slowly, Edmond nodded in agreement. Mimicking his other husband’s action, he lifted Olivine’s hand up from the table. Leaning his head down, the knight pressed a gentle, yet long kiss among the back of the priest’s hand. “I can attest to that. You deserve the same amount of love that you present unto us, dearest priest.”

Olivine’s eyes looked back up at his two husbands, his gaze lingering on the two of them slowly. First, he looked at Edmond, his cheeks glowing further at the sight of his gentlemanly knight. Then, he looked over at Eiden, where his smile grew further. “I’m… forever thankful that we chose each other.” He commented, his voice hushing into a soft whisper as he spoke. “I don’t think that I could ever call anyone else, but the two of you, my beloveds.”
His smile then grew larger. “Or… my husbands.” The priest added, as tears began to flood his beautiful, evergreen eyes.

Edmond’s mouth opened to speak. To comfort his holy lover, while he squeezed his hand gently. Yet, he was cut off by Eiden.
Eiden, who he swore would have flung himself over the table to cling to Olivine if he could. “Awh, Olivine..!” Eiden spoke, the corners of his own eyes threatening to soak with tears as he clung to his hand tighter. His voice wavered at the edges of that soft exclamation, as he leaned even closer across the table. His thumb brushed over Olivine’s knuckles in a slow, soothing motion.Edmond watched the exchange, his gaze steady. Slowly, he lifted his free hand, and reached it over the table. He rested his hand atop where Eiden and Olivine’s hands met, layering all three of them together in a quiet, yet deliberate gesture. “There is no need to restrain yourself, dear.” Edmond spoke, his voice low, and undeniably warm. “If anything, it would be improper to deny such emotion.”

Eiden glanced at him, a small chuckle leaving his lips. “You’re really leaning into the whole ‘soft husband’ trope, huh?” He teased.

The knight scoffed lightly, the sound mixed with a light and amused chuckle. “I am not.”
“Oh, but you are~!” The Grand Sorcerer bantered, and lifted the hand that was holding Edmond’s, just to give his knightly lover a playful poke in the side. A poke, which made Edmond’s attempt to  bite back a soft snort rather unsuccessful.

Their light-hearted banter was interrupted by Olivine, who laughed softly at the exchange. His smile returned at full force as he dabbed lightly at the corner of his eyes. “You truly are, my dear knight.” The priest agreed, his brightening again. “It’s very endearing, though. I love it.”

Edmond opened his mouth to argue, then paused. Instead, his lips pressed into something that could only be described as a restrained, accepting smile. “If… that is how you both choose to interpret it.” He conceded, followed by a light chuckle of his own. His smile only grew as he heard both Eiden and Olivine laugh aloud.

Just like that, the moment settled again. It was like sunlight stretching lazily across the table. The faint clatter of dishes from other patrons and low hum of conversation around them all faded into the background. It left only the three of them within their own quiet world.
As a quiet moment passed, the waitress returned to their table. She began to set down their plates, as the scent of warm blueberries and syrup rose gently into the air. Edmond looked at the rest of the table to see what his husbands had ordered.

Eiden had an omelette with various vegetables in it. He swore that he could see a few peppers and onions encased within the egg, as well as some chunks of ham. With it was a serving of buttered toast.
Speaking of toast, that was what Olivine had ordered. The priest himself had ordered french toast, with some bacon and hashbrowns on the side. Aside from their meals, the three men had also gotten a refill of their beverages – the drinks being respectively lemonade, milk, and orange juice.

After thanking the waitress, Edmond picked up his fork and knife. He cut into the stack of pancakes, the blade sliding easily through the soft layers. Syrup pooled along the edges, and glistened faintly. Then, he shifted slightly, and angled his fork toward Olivine.
“Would you care for a taste?” The knight asked, his cheeks pinkening once more. Olivine blinked, clearly surprised by the sudden offer. Then, his expression melted into something impossibly fond. “Ah! Yes, please.”

Eiden made a small noise of exaggerated offense. “Wow. Offering him first?” He asked, placing a hand to his chest in mock hurt.

Edmond didn’t even look at him. “You may request your own portion.”

Olivine giggled softly as he leaned forward, accepting the offered bite. His expression lit up almost immediately at the taste. “It’s delicious..!” He hummed, his voice warm with pancake-filled delight.

Eiden leaned in slightly closer to Edmond, eyeing the plate. “Alright, now I definitely want some.”
Edmond sighed, though the sound held no real exasperation. Instead, there was a quiet fondness that had weaved into his tone. “Haah. Very well.” He conceded, and began to cut another piece.

As he cut off another portion, and angled his fork towards Eiden, a warmth bloomed in the knight’s heart.
The action of sharing his meal with his husbands was already so domestic within itself. So was the banter, and shared comforting among one another.

Edmond hoped that in the future, he’d have many more of these moments to share with his beloveds.
As for now, he could try and ask Eiden for a portion of his omelette in return.
